Today in Brasil is a holiday. Pleasant little name: “Day of the Dead.”

Sounds like a horror movie, doesn´t it? But, it is a real holiday. Everybody tries to do nice things for the spirits of the dead so the spirits don´t do evil things to them. Trick or treat anyone?!

How do you do nice things for dead people? You clean up their tombstones, you burn candles in their memory, you go to mass, you dress in the colors they liked, you talk in hushed tones about them. And you shut everything down and go to the beach!

Everything is closed! Banks, supermarkets, retail stores. Only the gas stations are open — I guess the dead are into giving gas to the living.
