bo·da·cious \bō-dā-shəs\; adjective; etymology: probably blend of bold and audacious;
outright, unmistakable, remarkable, noteworthy
I want to be bodacious… both bold and audacious, at the same time.
The other day, I was reading an interesting muse:
Jesus was matter-of-fact: “Embrace this God-life. Really embrace it, and nothing will be too much for you. This mountain, for instance: Just say, ‘Go jump in the lake’—no shuffling or shilly-shallying—and it’s as good as done. That’s why I urge you to pray for absolutely everything, ranging from small to large. Include everything as you embrace this God-life, and you’ll get God’s everything.
It dawned on me… that is what I want, no shuffling or shilly-shallying, nothing too much for me, absolutely everything.
How many of us are afraid of getting fired, so we do nothing risky, nothing unsafe? How many of us don’t want to rock the boat, go against the status quo, push our faith into unknown and unexplored realms, heavenly realms? We do what we’ve always done, though we secretly wish to be adventuresome.
I think that doing nothing is far more risky than being bodacious. Are we not risking our current job, our current state of being, our level of faith, when we’re not boldly audacious… remarkable, noteworthy, unmistakable? Are we not throwing away the hope of something better, that someone might hire us, that we could make a difference with our faith, if we avoid the mountain-throwing experiences?
If we do nothing productive, nothing life-changing, nothing anyone talks about, are we embracing this God-life that the muse was referencing?
Just a thought…
