If you live in Wilmington, were not at Lifepoint on Sunday and are reading this, I’m so sorry.
I have never in my life seen a church service of the likes that occurred on Sunday at Lifepoint. At the risk of sounding much younger than I am, it rocked! The old and new blended creatively into a moving explosion of praise to the newborn King. And then the “stomp” kicked in.
Familiar with the broadway show Stomp? We had a version of it during our worship with orange 5-gallon paint buckets. Everybody — and I do mean everybody, young and old — were bouncing to the rhythm of “O Come Let Us Adore Him.”
I never thought of the old Christmas carol as a rhythmic, blow-the-top-off-the-building, get down and boogy type of song. Sweet, yes. but raw, unbridled worship, no. Until today. Dang! That had to have been a piece of heaven — the Jesus Lord glorified in “savage” worship.
Congrats worship team! You rock!
