I’m heading out to see the grandkids!
As you read this, I’m either driving to Raleigh to catch the plane (before 8 a.m.) or am already in the air. Funny thing is, I’ll be “in the air” for almost the entire day!
I think I bit off more than I can chew. This “little” trip is going to be more of an undertaking than going to Brasil!
I live on one ocean (Atlantic); they live on the other (Pacific). It will take 6 hours, nonstop mind you, to go from New Jersey to Seattle. Why I have to go to New Jersey is another story; but, it does add an additional 1:45 to the 6 hours. Almost 8 hours in the air. It only takes 5 to get to Brasil — the middle of the Amazon jungle — and another 3 to get to Fortaleza. Again, 8 hours.
Something doesn’t seem to add up here.
On top of that, I’m crossing 3 time zones. I only cross 2 going to Brasil.
Do you suppose I’ll have to go through immigration and customs in Seattle? Is Washington in the Union? What language do they speak? Are the nationals friendly to foreigners?
I think I should have done my homework better before undertaking this adventure.
I hope I won’t behave like the “ugly American” in a strange culture.
But, who cares?! I get to see my little rug rats again! 🙂
