I’m stuck on this time and temperature sign thing.

A week or so ago, Vince Antonucci did a piece on a recent Barna Group survey that snagged my attention. The survey explored the perceptions of Christianity of youngsters between 16 and 29. The conclusion of the study was that most non-believers had an overwhelming negative perception of Christians.

They saw Christians as anti-homosexual (91%), judgmental (87%) and hypocritical (85%), old-fashioned (78%), and too involved in politics (75%).

Are there some light bulbs on the sign out here?

Even among young Christians, many of the negative images generated significant traction. Half of young churchgoers said they perceive Christianity to be judgmental, hypocritical, and too political. One-third said it was old-fashioned and out of touch with reality.

When young people were asked to identify their impressions of Christianity, one of the common themes was “Christianity is changed from what it used to be” and “Christianity in today’s society no longer looks like Jesus.”

Is that celsius or fahrenheit? It’s definitely confusing and difficult to calculate.

Perhaps most interesting: of those surveyed, 91% stated they do not trust Christians.

Aren’t temperature and time signs over-rated anyway?
