Growing up southern, moon pies and RC Cola were a staple in my young diet. My memories of this combination are obviously getting as old as I am and may not be as accurate as they once were.
I definitely proved this on Sunday. While at Cracker Barrel for lunch, I picked up a moon pie to consume later that afternoon.
And I did.
It wasn’t as good as I remembered.
I’m finding that a lot of folks and their faith are in the same predicament — it isn’t quite as good as they thought it was.
And the ironic thing is that that is okay, IF it is recognized that it is that way.
I read through Joshua 1-4 last night. Joshua is told humpteen dozen times to “be strong and courageous.” Obviously his faith wasn’t quite as intense as it ought to have been. However, he recognized it and made adjustments. Those “adjustments” brought the house down in the form of the walls of Jericho.
Could he ever go back to being Moses’ protege after that? Is a so-so faith ever as good as it was thought?
Does a moon pie ever taste as good as it was remembered?
