Don’t you just love seeing the success of people who think they have it all figured out?

EPHRATA, Wash. —  Most of a group of 20 endangered rabbits that were reintroduced to the wild with great fanfare last month have been killed by predators, state officials said.

Only four of the rabbits released on March 13 remained at the Sagebrush Flat Wildlife Area as of Tuesday, said David Hays, pygmy rabbit coordinator for the state Department of Fish and Wildlife.

Appears that someone forgot to take into account the presence of coyotes, hawks and owls. Seems these “predators” had quite a rabbit barbeque. What’s especially sick is that many of these cuddly pygmy bunnies that would fit in the palm of your hand were fitted with GPS monitors. As they were being carried of for supper by a hawk, some confused intern back in the monitoring room was probably saying: “Look, the bunny is flying!”

Did I mention that this was a “multimillion dollar” project for the 20 bunnies? Did anyone bother to consider that animals raised in captivity are unable to respond naturally in the wild to protect themselves?

These are the same people who are running our government, creating our laws and are in charge of our foreign policy. Kind of scary, isn’t it.

Gives a whole new meaning to Paul’s injunction to pray for the leaders of the country in 1 Timothy 2:2, doesn’t it?
