Interesting thing I noticed in John 14-17. I’ve been going over and over this section since going to Brasil a few weeks ago.
Seven times Jesus tells his disciples that whatever they ask the Father for, they would receive. Seven times. Is the redundancy for emphasis or is it because they didn’t believe him… and he knew that they didn’t? And he really, really wanted them to believe it?
He equates the asking and receiving with their “joy” being “complete (16:24).
He adds an interesting twist in 16:15: All that belongs to the Father is mine. That is why I said the Spirit will take from what is mine and make it known to you.
Do I honestly believe what I read or do I just say I do? If so, as the old commercial used to ask, where’s the beef?
