How long can you simply accept the way things are and do nothing about it?
Specifically speaking, things with your spirituality. Sounds kinda dorky, doesn’t it? But, you know what I’m talking about. Most of us are only socially spiritual — do the right things, say the right things… when other Christians are around. If we were honest, we have no more clue about who Jesus is and what he requires than an ant can explain quantum physics.
So, based on reality, I repeat the query: how long will you be content to be a spiritual lug nut and never take any real action to change.
For some of us, that can be a really long time. For others of us, we never will. For still others, we like to think that eventually we will.
However, what do you do when God shows up?
One day the angel of God came and sat down under the oak in Ophrah that belonged to Joash the Abiezrite, whose son Gideon was threshing wheat in the winepress, out of sight of the Midianites. The angel of God appeared to him and said, “God is with you, O mighty warrior!”
Gideon replied, “With me, my master? If God is with us, why has all this happened to us? Where are all the miracle-wonders our parents and grandparents told us about, telling us, ‘Didn’t God deliver us from Egypt?’ The fact is, God has nothing to do with us—he has turned us over to Midian.” — Judges
There comes a time when God comes knocking. He may come softly and gently; when you refuse to acknowledge him or are simply incapable of hearing him, he tends to take things on in a God-way. Those appearances you can’t simply ignore.
You can, however, say “no.”
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx…or, you could say “yes.”
